Lucid Motors has unveiled a new feature named Creature Comfort Mode, catering to pet owners and akin to Tesla’s Dog Mode. The feature is now available for free on all Lucid Air models through a software update, enhancing the convenience and safety of traveling with pets.
Creature Comfort Mode allows Lucid Air owners to regulate and maintain the vehicle’s temperature when stepping away, ensuring a comfortable environment for their four-legged companions. Accessible via an over-the-air (OTA) update, the feature is activated by pressing the paw-themed Creature Comfort Mode icon on the Pilot Panel touchscreen.
Upon activation, the 34″ Cockpit display prominently notifies passersby that Creature Comfort Mode is in operation and assures them that the owner will return shortly. Similar to Tesla’s Dog Mode, this function provides peace of mind to owners leaving their pets inside the vehicle.
Owners can monitor the feature and confirm the cabin temperature in real-time through the Lucid Mobile App, enhancing control and security. To prevent unintended actions by pets, such as rolling down windows, Creature Comfort Mode disengages the vehicle’s pedals and windows when active.
Lucid emphasizes the similarity to Tesla’s Dog Mode, ensuring a seamless experience for users familiar with this feature. Creature Comfort Mode, once activated, persists in maintaining the internal temperature after the owner exits the vehicle. The function automatically disengages when the door is opened upon the owner’s return. Notably, Lucid mentions that the feature remains active until the vehicle’s battery reaches 1% energy remaining.
While Lucid’s Creature Comfort Mode aligns with Tesla’s Dog Mode concept, Tesla additionally allows users to check on their pets via an internal camera through the app, ensuring additional monitoring capabilities. Lucid aims to enhance the overall convenience for pet owners during road trips, charging stops, or quick errands, mirroring the practicality offered by similar features in the electric vehicle market.
