by Lisa

Daisy the dog‘s story first came to light last week when a video of her being abused went viral. The Pennsylvania SPCA (PSPCA) acted swiftly, rescuing Daisy from her dire situation. Just one week later, Daisy is thriving and eagerly waiting for her forever home.

A Second Chance for Daisy

HUNTING PARK – Daisy’s ordeal became public last week, drawing widespread attention and concern. The disturbing video showed her being hit and lifted by the skin of her hind end, which prompted an outpouring of public support and crucial tips that led the PSPCA to her rescue on July 30th.

According to Gillian Kocher, Director of Public Relations for the PSPCA, Daisy is showing remarkable resilience. “You’d never know anything happened to her, which is, I think, the resilience of dogs. They really do bounce back. They shouldn’t have to, but they do,” Kocher said.

Community Support and Daisy’s Recovery

The public’s reaction was swift and supportive, with many people expressing a willingness to adopt Daisy if she were rescued. However, despite her remarkable recovery and transformation, Daisy remains at the shelter, awaiting a family to call her own.

Kocher noted Daisy’s significant improvement since her arrival at the shelter. “If you watch the video of her, which is hard for anyone to watch, you can tell by her demeanor, she just kind of sinks inside herself. But here we don’t see any of that. We just see her happiness, her puppy energy. We think she knows she’s safe here and she is,” Kocher explained.

Meet Daisy: A Loving and Energetic Pup

Daisy is believed to be about eight months old and has shown herself to be a quick learner, particularly skilled at sitting for treats. Kocher described Daisy as “very lovely and happy, but lots of energy,” suggesting she would thrive in an active household. Daisy could potentially get along with another dog and would do well in a home with older children, given her playful nature.

Anyone interested in adopting Daisy is encouraged to bring the whole family, including any resident dogs, to ensure a good fit. The PSPCA is located at 351 East Erie Avenue in Philadelphia’s Hunting Park neighborhood. They are open every day from noon until 6 p.m. More information can be found on their website.

Daisy’s journey from abuse to recovery is a testament to the resilience of animals and the power of community support. She now waits for a loving family to give her the forever home she deserves.
