Jennifer Fraser and her dog, Chardonnay, are setting their sights on breaking a Guinness World Record, following in the footsteps of Fraser’s previous successes with her retired dog, Daiquiri.
On October 21, the duo attempted to break the record for the fastest 10-hoop slalom just outside Strathmore High School. The record requires the dog to jump through a series of hoops arranged in a slalom pattern. “She wraps the last hoop and then she jumps them back,” Fraser explained of Chardonnay’s performance.
Chardonnay, a two-year-old Australian Shepherd, has been training with Fraser for the past two years, stepping up to take the baton from Daiquiri. Fraser has a strong belief in the importance of continuous training, stating, “I never stop training. Even with Daiquiri, at 10 years old, he’s still learning new tricks.”
Fraser emphasizes the significance of positive reinforcement in her training methods. “I make training lots of fun so that I’m not making them do it; they want to do it,” she shared.
According to Guinness World Records, the current record for the fastest 10-hoop slalom by a dog is 8.58 seconds, set in 2016 by Stephen Bailey and his dog Neo in the United Kingdom. Fraser noted that the process to gain approval for her record attempt took three months.
Following their record attempt, Fraser will compile evidence, including videos, photographs, timekeepers, and witness statements, to submit for review. In three months, she hopes to learn whether they officially broke the record.
Looking ahead, Fraser and Chardonnay are set to compete in Romania’s Got Talent on October 23. Fraser has previously showcased her talents with Daiquiri on both Canada’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent, demonstrating her commitment to her craft and her dogs.
