The Hurstbridge Dog Park has recently undergone significant expansion, doubling its size to create a more spacious and enjoyable environment for our four-legged friends. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a new off-leash area at Eltham Lower Park, promising even more opportunities for pets to frolic freely.
The extension at Hurstbridge Dog Park includes approximately 280 meters of new fencing, enhancing the space available for dogs to run off-leash. This upgrade also introduces new entry points and access gates, ensuring a smoother experience for both pets and their owners.
Meanwhile, the forthcoming off-leash dog park in Eltham Lower Park is set to feature several amenities aimed at improving accessibility and safety. Highlights include snake-proof fencing, a water station equipped with a dog bowl, an accessible path leading from the entry gate along the southern fence line, and dedicated accessible parking.
A viewing area situated between the dog park and the revamped equestrian area will provide two shelters with seating, along with a drinking fountain, making it an inviting spot for visitors.
These enhancements are made possible through a $2 million grant facilitated by Kate Thwaites, the Member for Jagajaga, as part of the Australian Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program.
In addition to the dog parks, the sports pavilion will also undergo renovations, currently in the design phase, ensuring comprehensive improvements to the facilities.
The development plans for both the dog park and equestrian area are the result of community consultations conducted in 2023. Residents can review the final designs at Participate Nillumbik.
