Jack Ruhle and Brigita Dallosova have launched a new portable dog grooming service in Lismore, named Blue Wheeler. This mobile business offers convenient, on-the-go grooming for local dogs, from a unique mobile office—an adapted vehicle affectionately named “Scrappy Doo.” The vehicle is designed with a stable door and window openings that resemble dog ears, adding a playful touch to their professional setup.
The couple’s blue heeler, Rain, is the mascot of their new venture, which Jack describes as a full-service grooming experience tailored to every dog’s needs. He handles the grooming while Brigita manages the logistics and scheduling.
“We’re all about pampering dogs,” Jack explains. “We give them baths when necessary, do full grooming, and offer styling services, especially for long-haired breeds. It’s all about making them feel great, and they love it!”
For dog owners, proper grooming is vital, particularly for dogs with long fur. Jack emphasizes the importance of brushing, which can have numerous health benefits, including distributing natural oils throughout the coat and preventing painful matting.
“Brushing is key,” he says. “It helps with coat health, keeps skin healthy, and even removes irritants like grass seeds or ‘farmers’ friends.’ It also prevents mats, which can lead to skin irritation and pain. Matting is particularly uncomfortable for dogs—especially around sensitive areas like their ears, paws, and belly.”
A lifelong dog lover, Jack grew up with pets and has worked with animals throughout his life. After years of working for others, he and Brigita decided to start Blue Wheeler, offering them a chance to run their own business while doing what they love. “It’s definitely more work than I expected, but it’s far more rewarding,” Jack shares.
Jack’s calm demeanor makes him particularly skilled at working with dogs, especially those who are nervous about grooming. “Some dogs are immediately affectionate, while others are wary at first,” he says. “But by the end of the session, most of them don’t want me to leave. They recognize me when I come back, and it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s Jack!’—and they come running.”
While Blue Wheeler specializes in dog grooming, Jack has also been approached to care for a variety of other animals, including rabbits, cats, and even a goat. However, his true expertise lies with dogs, and that’s where his heart is.
For dog owners looking to make grooming a smoother experience at home, Jack offers helpful advice. “A good way to prepare your dog is to get them used to being touched in sensitive areas. Try holding their paws for a few seconds every day. Most dogs don’t like having their feet handled, and getting them accustomed to it will make grooming much easier.”
Jack encourages dog owners to reach out if they’re considering grooming services. He offers free consultations to assess each dog’s needs and provide an accurate quote. “If you let matting or skin irritations go untreated, it can turn into a medical issue. It’s always better to address it early.”
Blue Wheeler is bringing essential grooming services directly to the doorsteps of Lismore residents, providing a convenient and caring option for dog owners looking to keep their pets looking and feeling their best.
