Seven Service Dogs to Graduate from Medicine Hat College Program

by Lisa

Seven service dogs-in-training will officially graduate from Medicine Hat College this week, completing a 14-month program designed to prepare them for their future roles.

The graduation ceremony is set to take place at 2 p.m. on Friday at the college’s Eresman Theatre. The service dogs have spent the past year working alongside students enrolled in the college’s service dog and canine studies management program.

Following the ceremony, the dogs will remain on campus until December 11, before being returned to the organizations that originally provided them for further specialized training.

This marks the second graduation for the program, following last year’s inaugural event, which also celebrated the success of seven dogs, each of which worked with two or three handlers throughout their training.
