A missing dachshund, Archie, was found days after escaping during transport at Rogue Valley International Medford Airport, much to the relief of his breeder. Archie went missing shortly after being handed over to a pet transport service, with his breeder, Melissa Shrader, noting that the pup had seemed unusually skittish when he was transferred, despite being typically well-socialized.
In a post on November 19, Shrader shared her distress over Archie’s disappearance and appealed to the community for help. The pet transport company even offered a reward for any information. In response, Shrader encouraged people to gather at the airport to search for the lost dog.
On November 20, Shrader received a call from airport staff informing her that Archie had been spotted. She rushed to the airport to identify the dog and was overjoyed to find Archie calmly resting on a dog bed. Shrader shared the happy moment in a video posted to Facebook, which quickly garnered praise and support from the community.
One commenter expressed their relief, saying, “That is great news, thank you for letting us all know. Greatly appreciated.” Others expressed their joy, with many commenting that they were moved to tears by the happy outcome.
The event highlighted the power of community support, as Shrader acknowledged the collective effort in bringing Archie home. Medford, located about 270 miles south of Portland, is where Archie’s search came to a heartwarming conclusion.
