The new West Epping Dog Park in Epping is officially open, and local dog owners couldn’t be more excited. Funded by the NSW Government, the $365,366 off-leash park is designed to offer both dogs and their owners a healthy, active environment.
Located at Grant Close, the park features a spacious, open grassed area, water stations, shaded trees, and seating for dog owners. A 1.2-meter-high fence and double gates have been added for safety, ensuring a secure space for all visitors.
Donna Davis, Member for Parramatta, expressed her excitement over the park’s opening. She recalled how, four years ago, local residents reached out to her about the need for a safe place for pets to play, particularly those living in high-density housing. Davis, who was the Ward Councillor at the time, worked closely with the community to make this vision a reality.
“This new off-leash dog park is a fantastic example of how residents and the Council can work together to improve the local community,” said Davis. “I’m proud that Councillor Cameron Maclean and I could help bring this to fruition for Epping.”
Parramatta’s Lord Mayor Martin Zaiter praised the new park as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to provide more recreational spaces for its growing population. With an increasing number of residents living in apartments, Zaiter emphasized the importance of having accessible green spaces for both pets and owners to enjoy.
“Many dog owners have been eagerly awaiting the opening of this park, and now it’s time for them to let their dogs run free in a safe, open environment,” Zaiter said.
