A reporter recently investigated a number of pet shops in Wuhan and found that pet foster care services are in high demand during the Spring Festival.
As the demand for pet foster care surges, so does the cost of such services during Spring Festival.
On Jan 7, the owner of a pet shop in Xingxin Street, Jiangxia, Wuhan, revealed that business in the shop has been swamped despite the fact that the Spring Festival is still some time away.
“The situation is very chaotic. I booked the room last month.” Some pet owners booked the Spring Festival foster care service as early as a month ago, when the store still had some available “slots” to book.
The owner of a pet chain store in Wuchang district, Wuhan, said none of its stores had any vacant slots during the Spring Festival. “All the events are fully booked until after the Spring Festival.”
Due to the sharp increase in the demand for foster care, the cost of pet foster care during the Spring Festival has also escalated.
“Starting from the 23rd of the lunar month, the price of foster care will rise by 50 percent to a minimum of 50 yuan per day,” said the owner of Jiangxia Xingxin Street pet shop. The reason for this price increase is the increase in labor costs during the holiday season.
The reporter also found that in addition to Wuhan, cities such as Shanghai, Kunming and Hangzhou have also seen a “surge” in demand for pet foster care, and many pet stores have almost been booked out of foster care services. In addition, on the eve of the Spring Festival, many netizens looked for door-to-door pet feeding services during the Spring Festival on social platforms.
However, whether it is in-store boarding or in-home pet feeding services, it is best to make an appointment in advance. The closer we get to the Spring Festival, the higher the chance that all services will be fully booked.
