In a heartwarming act of maternal love, a stray dog in Istanbul made headlines when she carried her ailing puppy to a veterinary clinic, prompting a rescue that has captured the hearts of millions on social media.
On January 13, the staff at Beylikduzu Alfa Veterinary Clinic were stunned to see a mother dog, later named “Mom,” approach their clinic carrying her newborn in her mouth. The dog, who had walked through rainy streets, gently laid the critically ill puppy at the clinic’s door, hoping for help.
A Race Against Time
Emir, a veterinary technician, was the first to respond to the scene. Initially, the situation seemed dire. “At first, it wasn’t clear if the puppy was alive,” said Dr. Baturalp Dogan, the clinic’s veterinarian. “The pup was cold as ice.”
However, the team immediately sprang into action, with Dr. Dogan noting a faint heartbeat after a quick examination. “We noticed a very slow heartbeat. I thought, ‘There’s hope, maybe it will survive,’ and we began treatment,” Dogan explained.
A Miraculous Recovery
The clinic staff acted swiftly, administering an adrenaline shot and using a hair dryer to warm the puppy. Throughout the process, “Mom” anxiously watched from the counter, clearly concerned for her pup. Against all odds, the puppy began to show signs of improvement.
Dr. Dogan later revealed that the puppy, along with another male pup brought in earlier that day, were the only survivors from a litter of six. “They are doing very well now,” he said. “This is a gradual process, but we are optimistic about their recovery.”
Social Media Erupts with Praise
The footage of the dog’s heroic actions has gone viral, spreading quickly across social media and moving viewers around the world. Commenters expressed admiration for the stray dog’s intelligence and determination. “Wow. All kinds of heroes on the globe,” one wrote. “She knew exactly what to do. Amazing,” another commented.
A Hopeful Future
While the veterinary team remains cautious, they are hopeful for the puppies’ continued recovery. The clinic’s goal is to ensure that “Mom” and her surviving pups find a loving and safe home in the near future. With the care and attention they are receiving, the hope is that they will continue to thrive.
