Durham Regional Police are mourning the loss of a dedicated member of their team, K9 unit veteran Brock. The 13-year-old German Shepherd passed away last week surrounded by his family.
Brock, who served for eight years alongside his handler, Sergeant Jason Dickson, made a significant impact during his distinguished career. Trained in general patrol, Brock was responsible for locating hundreds of individuals, including wanted criminals and vulnerable missing persons. His work earned him the admiration of his fellow officers and the community.
“PSD Brock was an invaluable member of our team,” said Durham Regional Police in a post on social media. “He will be greatly missed by Sgt. Jason Dickson, his family, and the DRPS K9 Unit.”
The news of Brock’s passing sparked an outpouring of condolences on social media, with hundreds of users sharing their respects. Many expressed gratitude for his service, with some commenters crediting him for helping find missing loved ones.
“Rest easy, Brock … thank you for all your hard work,” one Instagram user wrote, accompanied by heart and prayer emojis. Another shared a personal message, saying, “RIP Officer Brock, thank you for your service. As I believe it was your team that found our son. Condolences to your partner and family, as well as the DRPS.”
Brock’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he served, and his memory will continue to be honored by both the Durham Regional Police and the families he helped.
