A woman from Madrid has been reunited with her French bulldog, Cooper, in Dubai, after the dog endured severe abuse that was captured on camera and shocked viewers worldwide.
The disturbing video, which went viral last week, showed a man violently attacking the dog on a balcony in Jumeirah Village, Dubai. In the footage, a neighbour can be heard shouting at the man to stop and threatening to alert the authorities. The video prompted multiple complaints, leading local authorities to intervene and secure the dog’s safety.
Paula Sanchez, the dog’s owner, took to Instagram on March 4 to express her relief and heartbreak. In a deeply emotional post, she shared that the ordeal, which had lasted for three months, was difficult to recount. Sanchez revealed that the man had used a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to transfer ownership of Cooper, despite her warnings about the dog’s safety.
“Nothing came to light until this video,” Sanchez said in the Instagram post. “Thank God this happened, and I’m flying tonight to Dubai.”
Following the viral footage, online communities rallied to locate Cooper. On March 10, Sanchez shared an update, announcing that Cooper had been safely released and was now back to playing and making new friends.
In a heartfelt video, Sanchez thanked the global online community for their support, saying, “Everything happened because of all of you. You all deserve to take credit for this, and I don’t know how to give back.” She also expressed gratitude to a “super important” family in Dubai for providing Cooper with a care package that ensured his well-being.
The emotional reunion highlights the power of online advocacy and community support in bringing about positive change.
