Two residents and their pet dog were displaced following a fire that broke out in a multi-unit residential building on Vineyard Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.
The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) swiftly responded to a 911 call at approximately 3:55 p.m. reporting the blaze near 369 N. Vineyard Boulevard. A total of 34 firefighters and 10 units were dispatched to the scene, with the first crew arriving within minutes of the call.
Upon arrival, crews encountered thick gray and black smoke emanating from the two-story structure. Firefighters quickly launched an aggressive attack, bringing the fire under control by 4:11 p.m. and fully extinguishing the flames by 4:38 p.m.
Fortunately, the two residents and their dog had safely evacuated before the HFD’s arrival. After securing the scene, firefighters conducted a thorough search of the building, confirming that no other occupants were inside.
The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced residents, though no injuries have been reported.
The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation, with authorities working to determine the extent of the damage.
