The Township of Nutley is offering extended hours at Town Hall this week to assist residents with dog and cat license registrations. In compliance with state law, all dogs and cats in Nutley must be licensed and vaccinated against rabies by April 30 each year.
To streamline the process, the Municipal Clerk’s Office will remain open until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 28, and Tuesday, April 29, to accommodate late registrations. Regular office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. are still available for in-person registrations.
Pet owners are reminded to bring proof of rabies vaccination valid through February 2026 when registering. Proof of vaccination is required for both in-person and online registration, which can be completed on the official Nutley website at nutleynj.org.
License fees are $15 for spayed or neutered pets, and $18 for pets that have not been spayed or neutered. For senior citizens, discounted rates apply: $12 for spayed/neutered pets and $15 for non-spayed/neutered pets. Payments can be made online, via check or credit card, or in person at Town Hall, where cash payments are accepted only at the Municipal Clerk’s counter.
Failure to register pets by the April 30 deadline may result in a summons. The license includes a metal registration tag that helps reunite lost animals with their owners.
Last week, the Township held a successful rabies vaccination clinic, where residents had the chance to meet their furry companions and ensure they were up to date on vaccinations.
