WATERTOWN, New York – A visionary plan is taking shape in the town of Watertown as Cala Morgia, the proprietor of CJ’s Acres, sets her sights on establishing a dog kennel. With a decade of experience in dog sitting under her belt, Morgia is determined to bring the comfort of a home environment to dogs when their owners are away.
Presenting her innovative concept to the Jefferson County planning board on Tuesday, Morgia aims to provide a nurturing haven for dogs on her 16-acre property. The cornerstone of the project is a 50-foot by 32-foot garage that will accommodate ten insulated rooms, each equipped with heating and air conditioning systems. This thoughtful design emphasizes the well-being of the dogs and their overall comfort during their stay.
In her pursuit of creating a “home away from home” for canine companions, Morgia plans to ensure that the surroundings are not only secure but also inviting. To this end, the area surrounding the building will be enclosed with fencing, fostering an environment of safety and freedom.
Morgia’s dedication to creating an unparalleled experience for the dogs reflects her vision of a kennel that goes beyond mere accommodation. “I want them to feel as if it is a home away from home, kind of when you go to a hotel and when you book online, you’re picking ones that look more comfortable,” she explained. The kennel will offer different amenities aimed at enhancing the dogs’ stay and ensuring they feel at ease.
As Morgia awaits the green light from town officials to commence construction, her initiative signifies not only a creative endeavor but a testament to the care and consideration for the well-being of our beloved four-legged companions.
