A ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Monday afternoon marked a proud moment for the citizens of Ashland as they celebrated the opening of a new dog shelter. The event drew a large crowd, including various speakers, and provided an opportunity for attendees to tour the facility, which is set to begin accepting dogs the week following the Ashland County Fair.
Commissioner Denny Bittle addressed the gathering and introduced several key figures, including Diane Hammontree from Homeward Bound, HB President Ralph Tomassi, and the President of the Ashland County Community Foundation, Jim Cutright.
In an emotional speech, Hammontree expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project. Her husband, Ken, assisted by reading part of her speech.
Tomassi extended his appreciation to the commissioners for their dedication and to the community for its support.
The new dog shelter stands as a testament to the power of community partnerships and collaborative efforts to provide a safe and caring environment for dogs in need.
