The Colony, Texas — Another heart-wrenching case has emerged, as a pet owner has come forward, claiming that their beloved family dog tragically passed away while under the care of a local boarding and training facility. This heartrending incident has sparked a police investigation into the operations of Leiva Boarding and Training, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
Selena Trevino, the distraught pet owner, recounted how her dog, Moose, a happy and healthy companion who had recently celebrated his fourth birthday, underwent a significant transformation while at Leiva Boarding and Training. “He was kind of like my emotional support dog,” she expressed, “I spoiled him. I let him get away with anything. He was really sweet and caring, but also skittish to loud noises.”
Last July, with the intent of boarding and training Moose, Selena undertook online research to identify a suitable facility and stumbled upon Taylor Leiva’s business. She noted the positive reviews and the absence of any red flags regarding harm to dogs, which encouraged her to reach out and ultimately book a week-long stay for Moose.
The horrifying turn of events unfolded on July 25th when Selena received an unexpected call from animal control. She recalled the traumatizing moment: “They said, ‘Hey, we’re on our way to go pick up your dog’s body.'” The situation took an even darker turn when she arrived at the facility, as Moose’s lifeless body was presented to her in a trash bag.
Selena reached out to Taylor Leiva in search of answers. “I was really hoping it was a freak accident, but knowing that he was there a week, probably without food…it’s very difficult,” she lamented. Her inquiries to Leiva about the incident led to the disheartening response, “I don’t know. They just let him out, walked him back in for a nap, and he didn’t wake up.”
Adding to the grievous situation, another dog owner recently stepped forward, claiming that Leiva Boarding and Training is responsible for their dog’s demise as well.
Taylor Leiva has been charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and earlier this month, David Judelson, believed to be Leiva’s father, was arrested on seven animal cruelty charges. These developments underscore the gravity of the situation, as authorities continue to investigate the operations and safety of the boarding and training facility.
