In the realm of high-tech canine companions, Chinese company Tecno has entered the scene with its first robotic dog, the Dynamic 1, showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday.
The AI-powered Dynamic 1 boasts an array of capabilities, including the ability to climb stairs, perform gestures like bowing and shaking hands, and respond to voice commands. Equipped with four microphones and an AI-based voice recognition algorithm, the robotic dog can also interact through a smartphone app or remote, thanks to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Tecno’s Dynamic 1 features a headlight system, illuminating its path and serving as an indicator for interactions with people. Powered by an ARM CPU, the robotic dog ensures dynamic stability, rapid post-fall recovery, and impressive speeds of up to 3.7 meters per second (approximately 8.3 mph). Its array of cameras and sensors enables it to navigate obstacles effectively.
With a 15,000-mAh battery, the Dynamic 1 offers up to 90 minutes of use, and Tecno highlights its unique approach to recharging. While lacking a USB-C port, the design allows for quick battery exchanges and simultaneous charging.
Inspired by the German shepherd, Tecno positions the Dynamic 1 as a glimpse into a futuristic vision, where robotic dogs coexist with humans, offering companionship benefits with reduced upkeep compared to their real canine counterparts.
Although the availability for purchase remains unclear, Tecno’s unveiling of the Dynamic 1 underscores the company’s commitment to advancing AI and robotics, showcasing its capabilities on the international stage at the Mobile World Congress.
