The online community was shocked by a distressing revelation brought to light by the animal rescue organization FurryKids Safehaven in Port Dickson.
Reports emerged detailing the discovery of 35 dogs living in deplorable conditions inside a residence.
Tragically, among the abandoned animals, the rescuers also uncovered the remains of deceased dogs and cats.
Members of the rescue team had to forcibly enter the locked premises, where they encountered the dogs alongside the lifeless bodies of several other animals.
The distressing scene depicted severe neglect suffered by the animals, as documented in video footage.
FurryKids has reason to believe that the situation worsened following the owner’s apparent struggles in January.
Moreover, the organization suspects that one of the female dogs may have resorted to consuming her own offspring to survive, while others likely succumbed to starvation.
Amidst the despair, a ray of hope emerged with the successful rescue of the 35 surviving dogs.
However, the path to recovery for these animals will be arduous.
FurryKids intends to rehabilitate the dogs, many of which have not been sterilized, necessitating spaying or neutering procedures.
The financial burden of caring for these animals is substantial.
Consequently, FurryKids has issued a plea to the public for donations totaling RM9,500 to cover expenses such as food, vaccinations, and spaying/neutering procedures for the rescued dogs.
In parallel, the state Veterinary Services Department has initiated an investigation into the matter.
As reported by theStar, officials are scheduled to visit the premises today to conduct inquiries and potentially press charges against the owner under the Animal Welfare Act, which prohibits cruelty and neglect.
