Maggie, an energetic 10-12-month-old Pit Bull mix, is eagerly awaiting her forever home at the Wood County Dog Shelter. Rescued as a stray, Maggie is far from a couch potato and is in search of an active family that can match her lively spirit.
“She would absolutely thrive with regular runs in the park or long walks around the neighborhood,” said Chief Dog Warden Jodi Harding.
While Maggie is friendly and has warmed up to every person she has met at the shelter, she does have specific social needs. She tends to be selective with her canine companions, so a proper introduction to other dogs in the home is essential before adoption.
“She is still a puppy and will need guidance on basic manners,” Harding noted. “Crate training will be beneficial for her, especially while her new owners are at work.”
Maggie is spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on her vaccinations, making her a well-prepared candidate for a new home.
The adoption fee for Maggie and other shelter dogs is $89, which covers a $14 Wood County dog license and a $75 vet voucher towards spay/neuter services and vaccinations if required.
The Wood County Dog Shelter operates Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays. It is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, and can be reached at 419-354-9242.
