New Fenced Dog Park Under Construction at Perry Park

by Lisa

Following the successful launch of Southridge Park, the city is moving forward with plans to convert Perry Park into a fenced dog park. This development was announced during a recent city council meeting, highlighting the growing demand for dog-friendly recreational spaces.

Opened in June, Southridge Park has been well-received as part of the People, Pets and Parks Off-Leash Program, demonstrating the community’s enthusiasm for such amenities. Encouraged by this success, the city has decided to create a second dog park at Perry Park, located off Ferry Road near Highway 16.

Perry Park, situated between Ferry Avenue and Wilson Crescent close to Van Bien Elementary School, previously featured outdated and non-CSA-compliant playground equipment. This equipment has been removed to make way for the new dog park.

City staff have reported that work on the new fenced dog park is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed by November. The addition of this park is anticipated to enhance recreational options for dog owners and their pets in the area.
