In a unique celebration that blends dogs and chocolate, the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie is gearing up to host its inaugural Dog Lovers Day next month. Though chocolate isn’t suitable for dogs, the event promises a day of excitement for pooches and their owners, offering a variety of dog-friendly activities and competitions.
Taking place on Saturday, November 16, at the chocolaterie in Bellbrae, the event is free to attend and invites dogs of all breeds from across the region to join in the festivities. The day’s events include competitions for the best dog trick, best dressed dog, and a timed obstacle course, with six different prize categories available.
Founder Ian Neeland shared his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “We’re thrilled to welcome dog lovers to our grounds for a day of free fun. Whether your dog excels at tricks, is speedy on the obstacle course, or shines on our ‘dog-walk,’ there are plenty of chances to win Chocolaterie vouchers.”
Competitions will take place between 10 am and 3 pm, with on-the-spot registration available for all participating dogs. Attendees can look forward to a variety of fun attractions, including a dog selfie booth and special treats for canine companions. Puppuccinos will be served in the dog-friendly café, where guests can also enjoy brunch, lunch, and the chocolaterie’s signature sweets.
The event aims to bring dog owners together for a day of joy, with Neeland adding, “We hope this is just the first of many Dog Lovers Days we’ll host, welcoming families and their furry friends from near and far.”
