In a delightful twist of canine talent, Giotto, a six-year-old Australian bulldog, has captured the hearts of many as he skillfully skateboards around his Sydney neighborhood. His rise to fame has been fueled by social media, turning him into a skating sensation.
Greg and Dany Denaro, who initially adopted Giotto for their tranquil lifestyle, quickly discovered they had a spirited and energetic pup on their hands. This unexpected dynamism became evident during Giotto’s first walk as a puppy when he encountered a group of kids on skateboards.
Greg Denaro recalls the moment vividly: “He was frantic, pulling with a strength beyond his size, momentarily surprising us.” Initially, they thought Giotto was merely reacting negatively to the sound of the skateboard. However, it soon became clear that his excitement was much more positive. “One of the young boys pushed his board towards Giotto, and he immediately jumped on it. He started biting it and tried to stand on it. It was clear this was something that really caught his imagination,” Greg said.
In a light-hearted attempt to embrace Giotto’s newfound interest, the Denaros purchased a cheap skateboard. The result exceeded their wildest expectations. “He was immediately taken by it,” Greg explained. “He jumped on it, bit it, pushed it, slept with it, and would just sit on it.”
While Giotto didn’t ride the skateboard right away, everything changed three years later when his owners designed a custom board specifically for him. “His confidence went through the roof,” Greg noted. With this new setup, Giotto quickly learned to navigate the skateboard, mastering tricks like turning and flipping the board over.
“Every day we went out with him, we came home even more amazed at his obvious improvement,” Greg remarked. Today, Giotto is not only a local spectacle but also an internet star, with millions of views on his TikTok and Instagram videos showcasing his skateboarding prowess.
“He loves to show off and often stops to pose when people gather around him,” Greg shared. “We can’t keep up with him anymore.” Giotto’s journey from a playful puppy to a skateboarding bulldog is a testament to the extraordinary bond between pets and their owners, proving that sometimes, dogs can do the unexpected.
