New Off-Leash Dog Rules on Kingston Foreshore Beaches

by Lisa

New regulations governing off-leash dogs have been introduced along the Kingston foreshore, restricting where and when dogs can be off-leash on local beaches.

As of 1 November, dogs are now permitted to roam off-leash only between sunrise and 10am at popular beaches including Carrum, Bonbeach, Chelsea, Edithvale, Aspendale, Mentone, Parkdale, and Mordialloc. After 10am, dogs are not allowed on the sand at all until 7.30pm. From 7.30pm to sunrise, dogs must remain on a leash.

Additionally, dogs are completely banned from the foreshore between Bay Street and Mordialloc Creek. However, between Charman Road and Plummer Road, dogs are allowed to be off-leash at all times.

These new guidelines are in effect until 31 March 2025. From 1 April to 31 October, dogs will be allowed on-leash between 11am and 3pm, with off-leash access outside of those hours.

The updated regulations aim to balance community safety with the needs of dog owners and will be monitored until the end of the summer season.
