Williamstown is gearing up for a tail-wagging good time as the Rotary Club of Point Gellibrand hosts its annual Dog Day in Dog Town on Sunday, December 1. The family-friendly event will take place at Commonwealth Reserve from 10am to 2pm, offering a day full of fun and excitement for dog lovers of all ages.
The highlight of the event will be a dog parade, followed by a scenic walk to Pier Farm and back. After the parade, a series of lighthearted dog competitions will take place, including categories such as Cutest Dog, Smallest Dog, Biggest Dog, Most Obedient, Best Costume, Best Dressed, Best Tricks, and Best Fairy Dog. For those with a sense of humour, there will also be contests for Dog Most Resembling Its Owner and Dog Most Like a Famous Movie Character.
Open to all dog breeds, the event welcomes any pup with a friendly disposition and good social skills. “We invite all locals and their furry friends to come along and join in the fun,” said Gael Meadowcraft, a member of the Point Gellibrand Rotary Club.
Entry to Dog Day in Dog Town is $20, which includes participation in the dog parade and competitions, along with a range of giveaways. Visitors will also find plenty of grassy areas to relax, stalls featuring dog-related products and services, and information about dog rescue and adoption.
Food lovers can look forward to a sausage sizzle, with a special treat for dogs – there might even be a sausage or two for them to enjoy alongside their owners.
All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting local charities backed by the Point Gellibrand Rotary Club, ensuring the event not only offers a fun day out but also contributes to important community causes.
