Jennifer Garner recently opened up about the emotional toll of losing her beloved golden retriever, Birdie, but found solace in the support of her daughter, Violet Affleck, during a challenging Thanksgiving. The 9-year-old dog passed away unexpectedly in late November, leaving the family heartbroken. However, the presence of 19-year-old Violet, who returned home from Yale for the holiday break, helped ease the pain.
A source close to the actress shared that while Garner was devastated by the loss, having Violet home was a significant comfort. “Jen has been heartbroken, but having Violet home from university helped,” the insider told People.
Despite the loss, the family managed to come together and celebrate Thanksgiving. Garner hosted the holiday dinner, joined by her ex-husband Ben Affleck and their children: Violet, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. “They celebrated Thanksgiving as a family,” the source said, adding that the children appreciated the chance to have everyone together.
In keeping with their tradition of giving back, the family also volunteered at The Midnight Mission’s annual Thanksgiving Street Fair in Los Angeles, continuing their commitment to helping those in need.
