With the holiday season fast approaching, Dogs Trust Evesham is offering a unique and meaningful gift idea for dog lovers: sponsoring a dog in need. The charity’s “Sponsor a Dog Scheme” provides an opportunity to support a specific dog in their care by contributing just £1 a week. This initiative helps fund the care of over 1,600 dogs across the charity’s centres.
Sponsorship includes a photo certificate, postcards, a window sticker, a fridge magnet, and regular updates from the sponsored dog during Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and summer—perfect for keeping supporters connected to their sponsored dog.
Among the dogs available for sponsorship at the Evesham shelter are Fudge, a quiet Irish Terrier, and Tobias, a lively nine-year-old black Labrador crossbreed. Fudge, who prefers a calm environment, thrives on routine, while Tobias, who enjoys playing fetch and learning new tricks, is a sensitive and enthusiastic dog forming strong bonds with his carers.
Tracey Spiers, assistant manager of operations at the shelter, said, “We adore Fudge and Tobias, and I’m sure the dog lover in your life will too. By sponsoring a dog like Fudge or Tobias, you’re not only helping your chosen dog, but you’re also supporting the care of hundreds of other dogs in our 21 rehoming centres.”
The funds raised through the scheme go towards essential costs like heating the kennels, providing treats and toys, offering training and behavior support, and covering any necessary veterinary care.
For those unsure of which dog to sponsor, Dogs Trust also offers a helpful “Sponsor Dog Quiz” to guide potential sponsors in selecting the right match.
In addition to their sponsorship program, Dogs Trust Evesham continues to find homes for thousands of dogs each year, with most being rehomed within six weeks, while also providing long-term care for those needing additional support.
