A dog named Pudding, who tragically lost its family in the recent Jeju Air crash, has been rescued and is now receiving care in Seoul. The animal rights group, Care, reported on January 2, 2025, that Pudding had been found wandering alone in Yeonggwang county, South Jeolla province, after the devastating crash.
The 79-year-old man, referred to only as A, was traveling to Bangkok with his family when the disaster struck. Tragically, A, his wife, daughter, and six-year-old granddaughter were among the nine family members who perished in the crash, leaving Pudding without a caretaker.
Concerned villagers noticed the dog’s distress, as Pudding had been roaming between the family’s home and the village center, seemingly searching for its lost family. Villagers began feeding the dog, but its safety was still a concern. After contacting the grieving family, Care decided to rescue Pudding to ensure it would be cared for while they searched for a new guardian.
Pudding was later taken to a veterinary hospital in Seoul, where it is receiving the necessary medical care. Care has confirmed that they are working to find a suitable home for the dog, ensuring it will be well cared for after the heartbreaking loss of its family.
This rescue story follows the tragic events of the Jeju Air crash, which has deeply affected both the victims’ families and the local community. Pudding’s journey highlights the emotional impact of the disaster, extending beyond the human victims to the pets left behind.
