Two best friends from Chicago, Joey Masloski and Eric Noxon, are on a mission to help shelter dogs across the U.S. find their forever homes. Their platform, “Eric & Joey: The Dog Guys,” has been gaining attention for its heartwarming approach to showcasing adoptable dogs on social media.
The duo travels to various animal shelters, where they take shelter dogs out for runs and other activities to give them exposure. They document these adventures through fun videos posted on their social media, aiming to give these dogs the attention they need to find new families.
“It’s all about highlighting these shelter dogs and showing their unique personalities,” said Masloski. “We’ve seen dogs get adopted the very same day after sharing their story online.”
One of their recent stops was in Tampa, Florida, where they visited the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center. There, they took a dog named Nimbus—who was initially very shy and nervous—on a run along Bayshore Boulevard and a walk around Water Street. The videos they posted featured Nimbus’ sweet, gentle side, which they hoped would resonate with potential adopters in the Bay Area.
Local shelter staff, like Chelsea Waldeck from the Pet Resource Center, emphasized that there are still close to 200 dogs in need of homes. Waldeck expressed her gratitude for the duo’s efforts in giving these animals more exposure: “We’re thankful for the support, as we continue working to find homes for all the dogs here.”
Noxon shared how rewarding it is to help shelter dogs find loving families: “Changing lives and bringing joy to others by helping these dogs find a home—it’s an incredible feeling.”
The mission of “The Dog Guys” is simple but powerful: to use the influence of social media to spotlight shelter dogs and give them the chance they deserve to find a home.
