by Lisa

A police dog injured in the line of duty in Aberdeen is set to return to action after receiving veterinary treatment.

Zeus, a six-year-old Belgian Malinois, was hurt during a dramatic incident in February when officers attempted to disarm a man. The situation escalated when a police car was driven at the suspect. Following the injury, Zeus received necessary medical care, and Police Scotland recently announced that the dog is now “fit and well.”

A statement shared on social media by the police force expressed relief and gratitude, with officials confirming that Zeus, along with his handler, was eager to resume their duties. “Zeus and his handler are now looking forward to getting back to work and keeping everyone safe,” the statement read, adding thanks to the public for their support during the recovery process.

The incident has led to legal proceedings for the 28-year-old man involved, Linas Luopas, who appeared in Aberdeen Sheriff Court facing charges, including possession of a bladed item in a public place, assault, and animal welfare violations. He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
