The local council has secured grant funding to upgrade the McIvor Reserve dog park, responding to the growing need for dog-friendly spaces amid increasing population growth and rising pet ownership in the area. This upgrade aims to enhance the park’s appeal by offering a safe and enjoyable environment for dogs and their owners, promoting responsible pet ownership, and supporting outdoor recreation.
This project is a pivotal part of the McIvor Reserve Master Plan, which was shaped by community input highlighting the demand for a more accessible, well-equipped dog park. The upgrade ensures that local infrastructure continues to adapt to the needs of the community, both now and in the future.
Key features of the revamped dog park will include a new fence to define the park’s boundaries, along with landscaped areas, new planting, and lawn spaces. The design will also incorporate dog agility equipment, new walking paths, seating, a water fountain, and improved signage.
Mayor Pradeep Tiwari expressed enthusiasm for the project, saying, “The dog park upgrade is one of the most eagerly awaited initiatives in our community, and securing this funding brings us one step closer to making it a reality.”
“This project aligns with our commitment to responding to the needs of local residents and addresses the increasing demand for safe spaces where dogs can roam freely. It also ensures that our facilities are prepared to meet the demands of a growing population and a surge in pet ownership.”
The park’s transformation is slated for completion by June 2026. As the work progresses, the council will keep the community updated on the project’s developments and final completion.
