A man has been taken into custody and a dog has been seized following reports of a three-year-old girl sustaining facial injuries after being bitten, according to the Merseyside Police.
The incident unfolded at Newtown Gardens, situated outside the Market Tavern pub, in Kirkby, northeast of Liverpool, during Saturday afternoon. Authorities received an emergency call reporting that a dog had attacked the child.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and the injured toddler was promptly transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Although the injuries are deemed serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police swiftly intervened and took custody of the dog involved in the incident. Further examinations will be conducted to ascertain the dog’s breed.
A 31-year-old man from Ormskirk was apprehended by law enforcement on suspicion of affray and having a dog that was dangerously out of control in a public area. He is currently in custody and will undergo questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
