Tracie and Matt Harris of Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia, are mourning the loss of their beloved lab-mix, Hudson, a self-made dog who overcame adversity and captured the hearts of all who knew him.
Hudson’s life began on the tough streets of St. Louis, where his exact lineage remained a mystery. Born in less than ideal circumstances, he faced early challenges, including neglect and health issues. Fortunately, Hudson’s life took a remarkable turn when he was rescued by Stray Rescue of St. Louis. This marked the beginning of his inspiring journey of resilience and redemption.
Initially shy and reserved, Hudson gradually emerged from his shell, revealing a warm and endearing personality that endeared him to everyone he met. His distinctive features, including large droopy ears, a tongue that could rival any, a chunky nose, and expressive big brown eyes, made him an instant charmer.
Hudson’s life journey mirrored his remarkable transformation. Adopted by Tracie, he embarked on a journey that took him from Virginia Beach to St. Louis (this time as a triumphant suburban dweller), then Fairfax County, and finally to Old Town, where he spent the last eight years of his life. In Old Town, he was known as a senior-landed gentleman who took great pride in maintaining some of the city’s most lush lawns.
Hudson’s story serves as a testament to the resilience of animals and the profound impact they can have on our lives. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with this exceptional dog.
The Harris family would like to extend their gratitude to Stray Rescue of St. Louis for rescuing Hudson and giving him the opportunity to live a life filled with love and care.
