In a recent training exercise held in Puerto Montt, Chile, a team of first responders and medical students gathered for a staged accident scenario, featuring a mock collision between a vehicle and a cyclist. The actor portraying the injured cyclist was convincingly sprawled on the ground, playing the part to perfection. However, an unexpected participant soon joined the scene – Gigante, a beloved local dog.
Apparently drawn by the commotion in the square, Gigante couldn’t resist becoming part of the demonstration, adding an oddly endearing twist to the otherwise somber scenario. Mirroring the “injured” actor, Gigante promptly lay down beside her and pretended to be “dead.”
Gigante’s acting prowess didn’t go unnoticed. As first responders tended to the staged accident victim, they couldn’t resist showering Gigante with pets and attention, appreciating the canine’s unexpected contribution to the exercise.
For those familiar with Gigante, his impromptu involvement was hardly surprising. Jaramillo Pame, an animal advocate, described him as a “puppy in the body of a big dog” and revealed that he frequently participates in events at the plaza. Gigante thrives on being the center of attention, and the community adores him.
Although Gigante may not have a traditional family, Pame emphasized that the entire community cherishes him. “He does not lack in love or company. Everyone knows him and gives him affection and food,” Pame shared, adding that Gigante never fails to bring joy with his charming antics.
