WEST FARGO – A West Fargo family is enduring the heartache of a missing service dog, Ruby, who disappeared on December 3. Despite nineteen days passing, the family, along with the broader Fargo community, continues their relentless search for Ruby, a vital companion to her owner, Jason Larkin.
Larkin, visibly distressed, shared his concern, stating, “I can’t imagine what she’s going through. The anxiety and the stress that it’s caused.” Ruby, a constant presence in Larkin’s life for the past year and a half, provides crucial support.
For the past two weeks, Larkin and the community have joined forces in the search for Ruby. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming, with numerous volunteers dedicating their time to help locate the missing dog. Larkin expressed gratitude for the community’s efforts, noting, “It’s been absolutely amazing. I’ve met so many people who have volunteered their time to search for her.”
The support extends beyond physical searches, with several digital billboard companies offering to display missing dog posters throughout the town. Larkin has received over 100 calls and messages from individuals eager to contribute to the search. Notably, someone from Florida reached out, demonstrating the widespread concern for Ruby’s well-being.
In a heartening gesture, an individual offered to double the reward for Ruby’s safe return, increasing it from $5,000 to $10,000. Larkin emphasized that the overwhelming response is driven by genuine concern for Ruby’s welfare, with people expressing a desire to reunite the family with their beloved pet.
Currently pursuing a lead that Ruby may be in Jamestown, Larkin remains hopeful but acknowledges the possibility that someone in Fargo may have found and sold her. Despite the circumstances, he asserts that he won’t press charges if Ruby is safely returned.
“I just want Ruby back. I just want her back,” Larkin emphasized, underscoring the emotional attachment between families and their pets. The search for Ruby continues, fueled by the unwavering hope that she will be reunited with her family soon.
