In Ewa Beach, a child is recovering after a harrowing dog attack that left the neighborhood on edge. The incident occurred at Keahumoa Place, where an 8-year-old boy and his friend encountered a dog and its owner while walking with their bikes.
Qeerah Kim, the sister of the victim, shared details of the distressing incident. According to Kim, the boys approached the dog and its owner after moving to the side. Inquiring about the dog’s breed, the owner assured them that the dog was friendly and encouraged them to pet it.
However, when the boys attempted to pet the dog, the situation took a violent turn. The dog reportedly tried to nip the friend’s face, then turned its attention to Kim’s brother, sinking its locked jaw into his arm. The dog dragged him off his bike, causing severe injuries that required stitches near his ear due to a claw ripping his ear open.
Describing the incident as gruesome, Kim appealed for the responsible party to come forward, expressing deep concern for the safety of the community’s children. The attack has understandably unsettled residents, prompting calls for greater caution among dog owners in the area.
The unidentified dog, described as golden brown and white, is now the subject of a dangerous dog case opened by the Honolulu Police. Despite the severity of the attack, there have been no arrests at this time.
Local residents voiced their concerns about the incident, emphasizing the need for responsible dog ownership, especially in areas frequented by children. The community remains on alert, hoping that the investigation will lead to accountability for the dog’s owner and prevent similar incidents in the future.
