In a heartbreaking incident, a dog owner in Miami is seeking answers and justice after her beloved 7-year-old Shih Tzu named Mia tragically passed away while in the care of a mobile groomer.
Daniela Valencia is still reeling from the loss of her cherished pet, Mia, who passed away two weeks ago. On September 25, Valencia had taken Mia to Miami’s Pet Grooming Mobile, a mobile grooming service serving Miami-Dade. However, a mere 15 minutes after dropping off her furry friend, Valencia received a call that left her in shock – Mia was unresponsive.
Valencia expressed her dismay, saying, “What do you mean she’s not breathing? She was okay. The thing is, the call was 15 minutes after he took her. So what happened in 15 minutes? I tried to give her air, like mouth-to-mouth. She just was dead.”
According to medical records obtained by NBC6, Valencia and the groomer hurriedly rushed to a nearby emergency clinic in a desperate attempt to save Mia’s life. The records revealed that Mia arrived at the clinic without a heartbeat and with no pulse. Shockingly, the groomer admitted to the doctor that he had placed a leash around Mia’s neck and had “left the dog on the grooming table unsupervised while he moved the van.”
After giving Mia a bath, the groomer repeated the mistake, leaving her unsupervised once more, this time without a leash. Upon his return, he found Mia not breathing.
Valencia shared the devastating news that Mia had marks on her neck and had developed hematoma in her eyes. Medical professionals suspected these injuries were a result of the pressure Mia had endured during the grooming session.
This tragic incident has left Mia’s owner demanding answers and has raised concerns about the safety and responsibility of pet groomers, highlighting the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mia’s untimely passing.
