Miami Beach, FL — A disturbing dog attack incident, caught on camera, has left a woman hospitalized after her valiant attempt to aid the dog owner. The owner of the dog that initiated the attack informed Local 10 News that his beloved pet had to undergo surgery as a result of the violent encounter.
The incident transpired in the early evening on a Friday outside Monty’s Sunset in Miami Beach, where witnesses immediately intervened to separate the aggressive animals.
Chris Borchetta, the dog’s owner, recounted the traumatic event and claimed that his dog had fallen victim to an unprovoked assault by a pit bull. “She started screaming, and I looked down, and there was a dog locked onto her, and it started to drag her across the pool deck,” Borchetta stated. “The dog was silent. It walked up from behind; we didn’t hear anything. There was no growling, no barking.”
In light of the grievous injuries inflicted on Borchetta’s dog, Lunita, emergency surgery was imperative. Fortunately, Lunita is now in recovery.
Borchetta expressed gratitude for the responsible actions taken by the pit bull’s owner, noting, “The next day he did contact the vet and covered the vet bills, which was great.”
Both dog owners have asserted that their animals serve as service animals, which adds complexity to the situation.
While a police report has been filed, it remains uncertain whether any legal action will be taken against the dog responsible for attacking Lunita or its owner. The incident continues to raise concerns about public safety and the role of service animals in such incidents.
